Realistically, we’ve all experienced behaviors like these at some point in our lives.
I know for a fact that I have.
Below are some examples of self-sabotaging behavior:
- when you do try to achieve a goal, you abruptly stop for no apparent reason
- you regularly feel you are unworthy of success
- consistently forgetting important deadlines
- you are consistently late for work or school
- never taking personal responsibility for your mistakes
- always blaming others for your failures
- repeatedly putting off important matters by procrastinating
- you give in to negative thinking
- regularly making promises that you do not keep
- every day you engage in negative self-talk telling yourself how much of a failure you are
- you have a habit of starting projects but never finishing them
- a sense of worthlessness is something you regularly experience
- you have a desire to accomplish great things, but never take meaningful action
However, some of us are more susceptable than others to self-sabotage and openly admiting it can be difficult to do.
It’s extremely important that you do not ignore or underestimate the signs of self-sabotage.
Likewise, ignoring your behavior reinforces a misplaced sense of worthlessness.
It will also provide a justification for negative thoughts that really are not true.
Therefore, what is one primary thing we can do to correct self-sabotage?
Correct Self-Sabotage By Being Completely Honest With Who You Are
Many of us have become victims of our own self-deception by focusing only on what we can get, not on what are we becoming.
The terrible mistake is that our society does not equate financial freedom with personal development.
The late motivational speaker Jim Rohn discussed in detail how this happens:
“Many of us have become victims of our own self-deception by focusing only on what we can get, not on what are we becoming.

Utter, blatant selfishness.
The reason is that all of us, regardless if we want to admit it or not, are born with selfish tendencies.

How often have you heard or said the following:
“Look out for yourself, because no one else will”.
“Get what you want out of life, screw everyone else.”

Therefore, since we grow up with this mindset, we have learned to focus only on what we can get, not on what we are becoming as individuals…
Remember, the subconscious mind can only act on the commands you give it, which is either by:
a) what comes out of our mouths

c) what we allow ourselves to watch and listen to
So if our words and thoughts are dominated by selfish tendencies, then our focus can only be on what we can get.

We are constantly surrounded by negativity, relentless distractions and mentally darkened people.
We associate on a daily basis with people who have given up on life and their dreams.
Therefore,The reality of our lives is that these people are everywhere and we just can’t avoid them all.
The wonderful news is that by reading 20-30 pages every day we can aggressively protect and nourish our minds.
To combat the onslaught of negative thinking and fear, you must set a goal to read at least 20-30 pages a day.
If 20-30 pages a day is too much for you, then start out with 10 pages a day!
The point is, to overcome self-sabotage you MUST start transforming your mind and your thoughts.
However, that means no newspapers of any kind, no fiction, no romance novels, no daily diet of world and local news that cater to fear and loathing.
You MUST stay away from ANYTHING that cannot help you to reach your short-term and long-term goals.
You MUST read empowering books that truly lift you up. Books that strengthen your determination to succeed.
Books that will reprogram your thought processes from one that caters to selfishness to one that serves others and adds value to their lives.

Reading books is an excellent way to educate, uplift, transform, and motivate you to take charge of your life.
Not just reading anything but choosing material that taps into the Creative Energy.
So the way to truly transform your financial situation is to surround yourself with “the best minds, the greatest thinkers and brilliant experts.”
For example, even though I’ve never personally met Jim Rohn, I consider him one of my mentors.
Many people have the mistaken idea that in order for someone to mentor you, you have to personally be in their presence.
That is absolutely false.
One of the best ways we can be mentored is by reading the books of those individuals that encourage us to pursue our goals.
Mr Rohn makes an outstanding point:
“Why do we point fingers instead of looking within? The ego strives to defend itself.
Therefore, when we blame outside forces we don’t have to face our own weaknesses and failings.”

People who live in lack and limitation are always complaining about the high cost of everything.
The reality is that the “cost” is not the problem.
The problem is that YOU CAN’T AFFORD IT…
It’s rarely the fault of “the cost” of goods and services.
If you keep shifting responsibility from yourself you’ll always be broke and disillusioned.
