For some, making decisions is a somewhat difficult process.
Many people feel overwhelmed when they have to make important decisions.
Anxiety starts to set in and can cause a person to shut down out of fear.
Some feel a numbing sense of uncertainty and self-doubt and avoid the decision-making process.
What also happens is you try to cover every outcome that’s possible and thus begins an endless cycle of over-analysis.

This may sound like a elementary question.
However, most people don’t have a clue.
Therefore, asking simple questions like “Why can’t I make a decision” and “What do I really want out of life?” are very serious.
The implications are HUGE.
Lack Of Clarity Hinders Good Decision Making
For decades, scientist specializing in how the brain functions have come to an important conclusion:
In order for our brains formulate a plan to reach our important life goals, we have to decide with certainty what we want.
We need to understand this point:
Without a clear vision of our life the probability of wandering aimlessly from one situation to another is very real.
So the question is how do you get clarity in your life?
The first step is to disengage from the stories you tell yourself.
In other words, everybody has a “story” that’s used to explain why they’re aren’t a success in life.
We all convince ourselves that our failures were caused by a myriad of outside forces.
It wasn’t our fault.
However, wether you realize it or not, we CHOOSE to fully engage in the excuses, or “stories”, created in our minds.
The problem is when we listen to the noise in our head, our lives become a reflection of the “noise.”
Also, since the “story” we tell ourselves seems to fit our own conclusions, we go nowhere.
Whats worse, when you start thinking this way, you develop a victim mentality.
You genuinely feel that the drama and confusion in your life is a result of your enviroment.
You blame your lack of clarity on what other people are doing to you, not what you are doing to yourself.
Furthermore, with this mindset firmly entrenched, you always look for an external solution to your problems.
That means always expecting someone of something APART FROM YOURSELF to fix your problems.
The deception gets worse.
You live your life daily convincing yourself that waiting and being patient will allow the solution to show up – eventually.
Change Is An Inside Job
What the 92% fail to realize is this:
Changing who you really are is an inside job!
You consistently fail to make meaningful decisions in life.
The reason is you’re waiting for some one or some thing to come and rescue you.
SImilarly, what that means is YOU, yes YOU are the architect, the creator, of your mental confusion.
The noise in your head.
With some people, the “noise” is so bad that they require the help of a mental health practitioner to sort through it.
In many cases, prescription medication may be necessary.
All of the the mental stories you hear and replay in your mind all come from you – from your own thoughts.
In the times we live in, the ability to make good decisions is critical.
Below, I’ve listed four strategies that can help you become a better decision-maker.
Four Strategies For Better Decision Making
#1: Think Less – Don’t Think Too Much.
Thinking through important matters is a good thing, however, most people overdo it.
People tend to overthink to the point where they make no decision at all.
Researching an idea can be benificial, however, too much fact-finding can lead to confusion.
Some people become confused, endless data-gatherers and fail to make a meaningful decisions.
Therefore, train yourself to limit the amount of time you spend making a decision.
Set a deadline to make your decision and stick to it.
#2: STOP The Bad Habit Of Putting Off Decisions.
Are there appropriate times to hold-off making a decision.
In some cases, yes.
However, most people wait so long to come to a conclusion on a matter that someone else makes the decision for them.
When a decision is made for you by default, you relinquish your power to someone else.
Missing a deadline to apply for something important.
Failing to call someone back.
Putting the responsibility on someone else because you procrastinated.
These are BAD HABITS that can be eliminated if you choose to do so.
You stop this by being conscious of the fact you have a habit of doing this!
Right now, today, you will NOT allowing someone else to decide for you whats important.
#3: Accept The Fact That You Can’t Have Everything Your Way
It’s a fact of life that when you open the door of possibilities by making a decision, you close the door on others.
There will beconstant “What If’s” popping up in your mind if you allow it.
You CANNOT possibly have known how every senario in your life would have worked out.
Successful men and women stay away from the crippeling “What If” thinking.
There is great power and calmness in ACCEPTING you won’t have everything go your way.
Live for TODAY. Now.
Get the heck out of the past!
Only what you do TODAY, moving forward, is going to make a diffrence!
#4: Be Reasonable! If Your Decision Didn’t Work Out, That Does Not Mean You Did Something Wrong
You and I are not in control of everything connected with our lives.
What that means is you can still make an excellent decision and it not work out.
Why is this, you ask?
How can you make a great decision and it still not work out?
Actually, in the Bible there is a scripture at Ecclesiastes chapter 9, verse 11 that says it better that I ever could:
“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.” – Ecclesiastes 9:11- American Standard Version
Do you understand what that Bible verse is saying?
Nothing in life is guarenteed. Nothing.
Even when you make good decisions, it may not work out.
However, here’s the point:
It was NOT your fault!
Do not get into the habit of beating yourself up when a good decision does not work out!
Make a conscious determination NOT to get negative on yourself for situations you have NO control over.
Just don’t do it!
It all begins with a decision!
